Disciple-Making Movement among Afghans and Persians
In Germany, around 450,000 Afghans and 300,000 Persians are living. What a gift! We value and love the rich cultural diversity, the warmth of the people, and the delicious food. For Afghans and Persians, Germany offers a unique opportunity to hear the Gospel for the very first time, because…
… among Afghans there are many different ethnic groups that remain unreached even here in Germany. This means that among these peoples there are still very few followers of Jesus. Revival in Iran continues to grow, and God is moving powerfully there. Nevertheless, there are still Persian ethnic groups that remain unreached. At the moment, only a few workers are serving among these unreached peoples of Afghans and Persians in Germany.
The following people groups among Afghans in Germany are still unreached:
Pashtuns (ca. 130´000)
Hazaras (ca. 110´000)
Tajiks (ca. 90´000)
Uzbeks (ca. 20´000)
others such as Baloch, Nuristani, Pashai, Aimaq
The following ethnic groups among Persians in Germany have not yet been reached:
Azeris (ca. 60´000)
Kurds (ca. 40´000)
Lurs (ca. 10´000)
other such as Gilakis, Baloch
God longs for all people groups to be reached. In Revelation 7:9 it says that in eternity all nations will stand before His throne: “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.” Jesus clearly told us that He will return when all nations have heard the Gospel of the Kingdom of God (Matthew 24:14). God has called us to this purpose! We give our lives for this mission!
We are living in a time of harvest! What a privilege! God is reaching the Islamic world, and we are part of it. Many Muslim Afghans and Persians have dreams of the man in white. Jesus longs for every single person to know Him and reveals Himself to them in dreams.
In Germany, there are also some unreached people groups from Afghanistan and Iran living right at our doorstep. Due to religious freedom and the open social framework, these people can often be reached with the Gospel more easily here than in their countries of origin.
According to Matthew 28:19, we have been given the commission to make disciples of Jesus among people of all nations. Therefore we see that God wants to start a discipleship movement among Afghans and Persians in Germany that goes back to their home countries.
