Disciple-Making Movement among Afghans and Persians
Around 450,000 Afghans and 300,000 Persians live in Germany. What a gift! We value and cherish the rich cultural diversity, the warmth of the people, and, of course, the delicious food. For many Afghans and Persians, Germany offers a unique opportunity to hear the Gospel for the very first time, because…
…… Among the Afghan people, there are many different ethnic groups that remain unreached, even here in Germany. That means there are still very few followers of Jesus among these groups. …The revival in Iran continues to spread, and God is moving powerfully there. Nevertheless, statistically speaking, the Persian people in Iran are still considered unreached … At the moment, there are only a few workers in Germany serving among these unreached Afghan and Persian peoples.
The following Afghan people groups in Germany remain unreached:
Pashtuns (ca. 130´000)
Hazaras (ca. 110´000)
Tajiks (ca. 90´000)
Uzbeks (ca. 20´000)
others such as Baloch, Nuristani, Pashai, Aimaq
The following Persian ethnic groups in Germany remain unreached:
Azeris (ca. 60´000)
Kurds (ca. 40´000)
Lurs (ca. 10´000)
other such as Gilakis, Baloch
God longs for every people group to be reached. Revelation 7:9 gives us a glimpse of eternity, when people from every nation, tribe, people, and language will stand before His throne: “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.” Jesus clearly told us that He will return when the Gospel of the Kingdom of God has been proclaimed to all nations (Matthew 24:14). God has called us to this purpose, and we are giving our lives to this mission!
We are living in a time of harvest! What a privilege! God is reaching the Islamic world, and we get to be part of it. Many Muslim Afghans and Persians are having dreams of a man in white. Jesus longs for every person to know Him and reveals Himself to people through dreams.
In Germany, there are also unreached people groups from Afghanistan and Iran living right on our doorstep. Because of Germany’s religious freedom and open society, these people can often be reached with the Gospel more easily here than in their countries of origin.
According to Matthew 28:19, we have been commissioned to make disciples of Jesus among people of all nations. We believe God wants to start a discipleship movement among Afghans and Persians in Germany—one that will ultimately reach back into their home countries.
